Research

Research Interests:

Sam undertakes research and consultancy to monitor and improve health and performance in physically demanding occupations. He is a Reader and co-lead of the Occupational Performance Research Group at the 香港六合论坛 and is a British Association of Sports and Exercise Sciences Accredited Physiologist and Chartered Scientist. Sam possesses particular research interests in, Physical Employment Standard (PES), wearable sensors, exercise nutrition, neuromuscular function,聽 the metabolic and thermal responses to exercise and occupational health and performance. Sam has provided research and support to the Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Air Force, UK Emergency Services, industry and overseas government organisations.聽 Sam has led numerous studies investigating risk factors for injury and physical demands during military training, development of physical employment selection standards and quantifying the physiological responses of military and emergency personnel during training scenarios. He is currently the principal investigator and technical lead for the numerous projects to enhance performance and mitigate injury risk in physically demanding occupations.
