About
Dr Barbara Thompson works in the Institute of Education helping to develop the research culture within the team.
She works with colleagues from the Research and Employer Engagement Office (REEO) to seek for bid writing opportunities as well as seeking to develop colleagues鈥� interest in research.
Barbara was Head of the PGCE Primary Programme for many years before becoming the Programme Leader for the Masters in Education.
Barbara has a long-term interest in gender issues.
After working in primary schools and before joining the University (then West Sussex Institute of Higher Education) as a Professional Studies tutor she was an Open University Tutor on the MA module in Gender and Education.
Barbara is a keen researcher and gained a Ph.D. in 2009 on Gender Leadership and Management in Initial Teacher Training.
She publishes in the field of gender focussing upon gender, leadership and management.
