{"id":4206,"date":"2021-09-06T10:28:34","date_gmt":"2021-09-06T09:28:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chi.ac.uk\/?page_id=4206"},"modified":"2024-04-22T16:11:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T15:11:00","slug":"extend-your-student-route-visa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.chi.ac.uk\/study\/international\/visa-and-immigration\/extend-your-student-route-visa\/","title":{"rendered":"Extend Your Student Route Visa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\tExtend Your Student Route Visa\n\t<\/h1>\n\t<div class=\"sidebar-menu-wrapper\"><\/div>\n<h2>\n\t\tExtend your Student Route Visa\n\t<\/h2>\n    <p>If you are already in the UK on a Student Route visa and want to extend your visa, please contact the\u202fInternational Student Advisory Service <a href=\"mailto:international@chi.ac.uk\"><strong>international@chi.ac.uk<\/strong><\/a>\u202ffor advice.<\/p>\n<h4>Who can apply in the UK?<\/h4>\n<p>It is important that you meet the in-country\u00a0visa\u00a0application criteria which include the following:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You cannot switch to this visa if you have one of the following visas:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>a visit visa<\/li>\n<li>a short-term student visa<\/li>\n<li>a Parent of a Child Student visa<\/li>\n<li>a seasonal worker visa<\/li>\n<li>a domestic worker in a private household visa<\/li>\n<li>leave outside the immigration rule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Length of time spent on Tier 4 visa\/\u00a0Student Visa\u00a0 &#8211;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ukcisa.org.uk\/Information--Advice\/Visas-and-Immigration\/Tier-4-eligibility-and-requirements#layer-3004\"><strong>See information on time limits\u00a0here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Academic progression requirements &#8211; You must have successfully completed your previous studies in the UK\u00a0and you must be progressing to a higher level of study e.g. from undergraduate to postgraduate. See more on this requirements and\u00a0exemptions in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/guidance-on-application-for-uk-visa-as-tier-4-student\"><strong>Student Visa <\/strong><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/guidance-on-application-for-uk-visa-as-tier-4-student\"><strong>Guidance.<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li>The gap between your current visa expiry date and the course start date must not exceed 28 days.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you are a Pre-Sessional student and you need to extend your visa in the UK after completing you Pre-Sessional course, please visit our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chi.ac.uk\/study\/international\/study\/pre-sessional-programme\/\"><strong>Pre-Sessional page<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for more information.<\/p>\n<h4>Starting your studies<\/h4>\n<p>It is not possible to start your studies with us if you have not submitted a visa\u00a0extension\u00a0application using our CAS.<\/p>\n<p>You can register onto your course at Chichester only if you have received your new Student visa with our sponsor licence number or if you have submitted a valid application\u00a0using our CAS\u00a0and are waiting for a decision. During this time, you will be covered by Section 3C Leave.\u00a0We would need to see evidence of your application at registration.<\/p>\n<h4>When can I apply?<\/h4>\n<p>Applications cannot be made more than three months before the start of the course. If you have an unconditional offer (i.e. you have met the academic conditions and paid your deposit) and you are within 3 months of your course start date, our <a href=\"mailto:admissions@chi.ac.uk\"><strong>admissions team<\/strong><\/a>\u202fwill contact you regarding your CAS.<\/p>\n<p>If you are a current student at the 香港六合论坛 and you are extending your visa to continue on the same degree, you will need to request a\u202fCAS\u202ffrom Academic Registry. Current students do not need to pay a deposit. Contact the\u202f<a href=\"http:\/\/international@chi.ac.uk\/\"><strong>International Student Advisers<\/strong><\/a>\u202ffor advice.<\/p>\n<h4>What application form should I use? How do I apply?<\/h4>\n<p>When applying from\u202f<strong>inside the UK<\/strong>\u202fyou\u202fare required to apply\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/visas-immigration.service.gov.uk\/product\/tier-4-student\"><strong>online<\/strong><\/a>,\u202fpay the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/visa-fees\"><strong>\u202fapplication fee<\/strong><\/a>\u202fand\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/healthcare-immigration-application\"><strong>NHS\u00a0Health Surcharge<\/strong><\/a>\u202fand book an appointment at a UKVAC centre nearest to you.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Check the Student Route visa requirements to make sure you are ready to submit your application when the time comes. You will need to pay particular attention to making sure that you can provide evidence of having enough money in the correct format (see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/guidance-on-application-for-uk-visa-as-tier-4-student\"><strong>Student Visa Guidance <\/strong><\/a>for information on this).<\/li>\n<li>Meet the academic conditions (provide evidence of your qualifications, English language test, references, portfolio etc.).<\/li>\n<li>Pay a deposit (unless you are a current student extending to continue your studies).<\/li>\n<li>Provide a copy of your passport and your immigration history to the admissions team (or to academic registry if you are a current student).<\/li>\n<li>Receive\u00a0your CAS.<\/li>\n<li>Submit your online application and pay the NHS surcharge (\u00a3470 per year) and application (\u00a3490 per application) fees. Please note that the NHS surcharge fee is due to increase from \u00a3470 to \u00a3776 on 16<sup>th<\/sup> January 2024.<\/li>\n<li>Book an appointment at the nearest UKVAC centre.<\/li>\n<li>Attend the appointment with your printed cover sheet and the required documentary evidence. You will be required to give your biometric information (fingerprints and photo) as part of the appointment.<\/li>\n<li>Wait for the visa decision (normally about 8 weeks).
