Joining\u00a0one of the International Orientation\u00a0events\u00a0is\u00a0a great way to start your new life in the UK, adjust to university life and meet other new international students.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\n\t
When is the international orientation event?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Our International Orientation event will take place on Sunday 24th September. We encourage all international students to attend this event.<\/p>\n Who should attend this event?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n All international students, including study abroad and exchange students, starting their studies in September, should join the International Orientation event.<\/p>\n Why should I attend the International Orientation event?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Joining the orientation event is a great way to start your new life in the UK, adjust to the university environment and meet new and current international students.\u00a0 <\/strong>Students who attend the orientation event experience fewer practical problems and have a smoother transition into their academic studies.<\/p>\n What will be covered at the International Orientation event?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We will\u00a0cover the following important topics:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Join our online pre-departure sessions\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We have created a series of seven short pre-departure sessions to help you prepare for arrival in September. We’ll cover various important topics:<\/p>\n More information and booking instructions are available on our Be Prepared website.<\/a><\/p>\n How can I find out about the above topics in advance?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n You should read our pre-arrival guide<\/a> and visit our\u00a0Be Prepared website<\/a>. These resources cover most aspects of getting ready for your life and studies in the UK.<\/p>\n When should I arrive?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n You should plan to arrive during the accommodation welcome weekend (see our accommodation website for information). You will receive a warm welcome from our Students Union and accommodation team!<\/p>\n Can I book an airport pick-up via the University?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We do not offer an airport pick-up service, but you can find information about using public transport in our pre-arrival guide. <\/a>\u00a0If you need help with booking a taxi from the airport, you can contact the International Student Advisory Service for recommended local taxi companies.<\/p>\n When will I start my studies?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n You will start your studies with your departmental induction week. To find your programme please log into Chiview portal or contact help@chi.ac.uk<\/a> to request a copy of your programme. Programmes are available around end of August.<\/p>\n What social activities are planned for international students during the induction week?<\/strong><\/p>\n Our Orientation Programme, which includes a list of activities and events to help international students get to know the local area and make friends, will be available in the summer.<\/p>\n How do I book a place?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Booking instructions are available on our Be Prepared website.<\/a><\/p>\n What if I can’t attend the International Orientation event?<\/strong><\/p>\n We expect you to be in the UK for your induction week, which is a compulsory part of your studies. If you are delayed due to a visa or travel restriction related reason, you should contact international@chi.ac.uk<\/a> to seek authorisation for late arrival. Please note that late arrival is not an automatic right.<\/p>\n Can I access the Orientation event presentations after the event?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n We will post our International Orientation presentations on the Pre-arrival and Orientation Moodle page, so that you can access the information we cover. You can also arrange to meet with the International Student Advisers when you have arrived.<\/p>\n You will receive information you about the welcome\/induction programme from your academic department.
