{"id":24263,"date":"2021-10-20T11:30:01","date_gmt":"2021-10-20T10:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chi.ac.uk\/?page_id=24263"},"modified":"2021-10-20T11:40:16","modified_gmt":"2021-10-20T10:40:16","slug":"subject-content-teaching","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.chi.ac.uk\/study\/international\/international-short-programme-unit-ispu\/subject-content-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Subject Content Teaching"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\tSubject Content Teaching\n\t<\/h1>\n    <p>The programme is designed for experienced teachers who wish to extend their career development by exploring the ways in which their different respective subject specialisms are taught in the UK school system.<\/p>\n\t<div class=\"sidebar-menu-wrapper\"><\/div>\n    <p>This programme is designed for international teachers of Mathematics, Science, Physics, Chemistry, Natural Science, History, English, IT, Music and Art.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers will have the opportunity to observe subject lessons and subject teachers in British schools<\/p>\n<h4>Programme Design<\/h4>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<th><strong>Professional Components<\/strong><\/th>\n<th><strong>Educational Schools Attachment Visits\u00a0<\/strong><\/th>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Subject Teaching Pedagogy and the Basis of Subject Teaching Materials<\/td>\n<td>School Attachment Visits to Local Secondary and Primary Schools<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>The Organisation\u00a0of the Subject Teaching Curriculum<\/td>\n\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td>Professional Language Development for Teachers<\/td>\n\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<h4>\n\t\tProgramme Content\n\t<\/h4>\n    <p>The programme will focus on the pedagogy in the UK for subject content teaching.\u00a0 The programme will therefore have a twin focus on both the subject area and aspects of teaching and learning.<\/p>\n<p>We will explore contemporary approaches to teaching and learning such as task-based learning, interaction-based learning, discovery learning, motivation, providing feedback to pupils and ways of engaging pupils.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, we will explore materials used in subject teaching and the pedagogic basis of the materials.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chi.ac.uk\/app\/uploads\/2021\/09\/20-Teaching-Education-1920-x-1080-43.jpg\" alt=\"teacher reading book with student\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"1080\" width=\"1920\" title=\"20 Teaching Education 1920 X 1080 43\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n<h4>\n\t\tProgramme Aims\n\t<\/h4>\n    <p>This programme aims:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To focus on notions of teaching and learning in the relevant subject areas<\/li>\n<li>To examine the pedagogic basis of teaching and learning materials in relevant subject areas<\/li>\n<li>To develop an understanding of the relationship between materials and methodological considerations<\/li>\n<li>To examine models of lesson planning used in teaching<\/li>\n<li>To enable participants to understand the pedagogic basis of materials<\/li>\n<li>To examine what is meant by &#8220;rich&#8221;
