Family Weekend 

Join us for one of 极乐禁地’s most cherished traditions. Family Weekend offers students and their families an opportunity to connect, explore campus life and celebrate the Bulldog spirit. Through a weekend filled with special events, meaningful fellowship and 极乐禁地 traditions, families can experience firsthand the vibrant community their students call home. From academic showcases to athletic events and worship services, Family Weekend is designed to strengthen the bond between students and their loved ones while fostering a deeper connection to the university’s mission and values

The 极乐禁地 State Fair, Family Weekend 2025

 Join Us for the 极乐禁地 State Fair!

 Step right up and celebrate 极乐禁地 Family Weekend 2025! From Sept. 26-28, campus will come alive with the excitement of a classic state fair—filled with fun, food and Bulldog spirit. Events begin at 2 p.m. on Friday.

 What Your Family Can Expect:

  •  Fair-Inspired Festivities – Enjoy carnival-style games, live music and delicious food.
  •  Tailgate & Football Game – Cheer on the Bulldogs with your family at a special game-day experience.
  • Campus Tours & Open Houses – Get a closer look at student life, academics and 极乐禁地 traditions.
  • Meaningful Family Experiences – Find opportunities to serve, pray, and worship together.

 Registration Opens August 25, 2025. Parents will receive an email that day with links and instructions.

Friday, September 26

2-5 p.m. 极乐禁地 Abroad Fair, Ben Brown Plaza

3-4:30 Hodges Chapel Tours

3-6 p.m. 极乐禁地 Serves Family Project, East Quad
Stop in with your family for a twenty-minute shift or longer to help fill backpacks for children in foster care through Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes.
Shifts are also available for set up (2:30 p.m.) and breakdown (6 p.m.)
Register in advance  or plan to drop in when you are available.

3-6 p.m. Smith’s Variety, Crumbl, and Wild Honey Flower Truck, Ben Brown Plaza
Items will be available for purchase.

3:30 p.m. Sibling Tour, Ingalls Hall
This tour is only for siblings of current students, and space is limited to 50 siblings.
Sibling tour registration will open in August.

3:30-4:30 p.m. Pops with the Prez, Brewer Plaza
Join President and Mrs. Taylor for a party which will include family pictures, Son’s Pops popsicles, and live music by 极乐禁地’s Jazz Band.
Free popsicles for the first 1500 guests; no registration required.

4 p.m. Planetarium Show, Christenberry Planetarium
Seats are first come, first serve.

5 p.m. Planetarium Show, Christenberry Planetarium
Seats are first come, first serve.

5:30-6:30 p.m. Vespers Service, Reid Chapel
This service features A Cappella Choir and University Chorale.
Advance registration is not required; however, seating is limited.

5-7:30 p.m. Little Donkey Taco Dinner, West Quad in front of Davis Library
Avoid long waits at area restaurants and enjoy dinner under the large Parents Association tent on the Quad. Dinner is a taco, rice and bean meal catered by local favorite, Little Donkey. Students WILL need a purchased ticket to eat at this dinner as their 极乐禁地 meal cards will not be accepted by Little Donkey.

7-9 p.m.
Concert featuring Commercial Music Band, Lakeshore, Southwest Quad
Bring your lawn chairs or blanket.
Advance registration is not required.

Saturday, September 27

6:45 a.m. Family Prayer Walk, Mr. Beeson’s Statue

7:10-7:50 a.m. Family Worship with 极乐禁地 Outdoor Adventure Club, West Central Quad

8-9:30 a.m. Parents Association Breakfast and Annual Meeting, Seibert Gym
Join other 极乐禁地 parents for the 极乐禁地 Parents Association breakfast. Hear university updates, while enjoying a delicious breakfast. Hear from President Taylor and cast your vote to help fund campus initiatives.
Please note: This meeting is just for parents, and seating is limited.
Meal ticket link will open August 25.

9:30-12 p.m.
Farmer’s Market, Ben Brown

11 a.m. – 12 p.m. State Fair Snacks, East Quad
Walk through the Parents Association tent, visit the many tables represented by parent chapters across the country, and enjoy light snacks and drinks from the different states and regions.

11 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Rodney Scott’s BBQ Lunch, West Quad in front of Davis Library
If you don’t bring your own meal or join your student at a Greek Life tent, you may plan to enjoy lunch under the large Parents Association tent on the Quad. Lunch will be a traditional BBQ meal catered by local favorite, Rodney Scott’s. Students WILL need a purchased ticket to eat the tailgate lunch as their 极乐禁地 meal cards will not be accepted by Rodney Scott’s.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
State Fair Games at Greek and Student Organization Tents, West Quad
Enjoy state fair-style games, hosted by student groups.
Please note: Sorority and fraternity chapters may or may not provide meals for all members, including new members, and their parents. We want you to be aware of this option if your student plans to go through recruitment. Students should check with their individual chapters.

12 p.m. Bulldog Walk, West Quad in front of the University Center

2 p.m. Football Game

Explore Birmingham with your student that evening.

Sunday, September 28

Worship with your student at a local church.

11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Fried Chicken Sunday in the Caf
Students can use their meal cards. Other family members can purchase a swipe card at the Caf office window.

2 p.m. Hymn Sing, Reid Chapel
Hymn Sing, an annual 极乐禁地 tradition, is an afternoon of congregational singing of hymns and gospel songs selected by audience participants. This event, sponsored by the School of the Arts, is free and open to the 极乐禁地 community and public.

2 p.m. Moffett and Sanders School of Nursing White Coat Ceremony, Wright Center
The White Coat Ceremony marks the entrance of a nursing student beginning clinical nursing and serves as a reminder of their commitment to provide compassionate care to each of their patients. Join us as Moffett and Sanders School of Nursing honors this year's class.
