极乐禁地 has selected Beta Theta Pi as its new fraternity, with the establishment of the 极乐禁地 chapter to begin this fall. This will be the university’s sixth fraternity. It will be part of the Interfraternity Council (IFC), joining Alpha Tau Omega, Lambda Chi Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Chi and Sigma Nu.
“Beta Theta Pi has a strong legacy of values such as intellectual growth and integrity, simply aligning with 极乐禁地. The fraternity will be an asset to campus through their dedication to high standards and their plan to provide 极乐禁地 men with brotherhood, personal growth, and a place to call home” said Julie Mincey, director of Greek Life at 极乐禁地. “Beta Theta Pi will provide a unique brotherhood opportunity for men looking to be a part of leading a new fraternity on campus. Beta Theta Pi develops men of principle for a principled life.”
“Beta Theta Pi has a strong commitment to the fraternity’s values and principles that will only enhance the IFC community. IFC was highly impressed with their new member recruiting plans and leadership development programs,” said Ryan Drew, president of 极乐禁地’s Interfraternity Council. “Beta has a robust alumni presence in the Birmingham community and those men will be a solid foundation for supporting our newest chapter. As IFC president, I am looking forward to working with Beta alumni and headquarters staff to support the 极乐禁地 Beta chapter any way I can.”
Recruitment will begin this fall with the help of local Beta Theta Pi alumni and one dedicated headquarters staff member.
“Greek Life will work closely with the national organization to make plans this summer to set the chapter up for success this fall. I am looking forward to working with local alumni and national staff who will invest in the 极乐禁地 men selected to lead this founding class for Beta Theta Pi. This partnership is going to be long lasting and a positive experience for all involved,” Mincey said.
