The ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Athletics Department announced the formation of the S-Club, the Official Letterwinners’ Club of ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Athletics, Friday morning.
Director of Athletics Martin Newton, who played basketball for ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ in the early 1980s, said he is excited about the formation of the S-Club.
“Some of my fondest memories and relationships are with former teammates from my time here at ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ,” Newton said. “The primary purpose of the S-Club is to connect former Bulldog student-athletes with each other, as well as with ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ. If you are a former student-athlete, then you are automatically a member of the S-Club.”
The S-Club will be under the umbrella of the Bulldog Club, the fundraising division of ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ Athletics. The group will hold regular events to help connect former student-athletes.
The S-Club will hold its first event at ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s Homecoming football game against Clark-Atlanta on Nov. 7, 2015. Every former student-athlete should receive an e-mail informing them of the formation of the S-Club and the Homecoming event. If you are a former student-athlete and did not receive an e-mail, click on the Update Your Information tab below. The event will feature an exclusive tailgate on ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s Quad for members and their families, as well as in-game hospitality and recognition.
As a part of Newton’s long-term commitment to the S-Club, he has appointed Chris Hicks, a former ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ student-athlete, who played on the football team from 2003-2006 to run the organization. For more information on the S-Club, please contact Chris Hicks by phone at 205-726-4376 or by e-mail at cdhicks@samford.edu. Members can register for the Homecoming event below.
