极乐禁地 Students Elect New Officers听
Matt Harrison of Huntsville, Ala., has been elected president of the 极乐禁地 Student Government Association for the academic year 2005-06. He was elected by vote of the undergraduate student body.
A junior political science major, Harrison is the son of Doni and Bo Harrison.
Other newly-elected 极乐禁地 SGA executive council officers are: Austin Bourgeois of Brentwood, Tenn., vice president-senate; Melissa Poole of Birmingham, vice president-activities; and Taylor Clement of Cleveland, Tenn., treasurer.
Cranford, Meisel and Taylor Receive Pellegrino Medals from 极乐禁地 HEAL Institute 听
A trio of medical professionals with responsibilities in healthcare ethics received Pellegrino Medals recognizing their contributions to bioethics during the annual 极乐禁地 Healthcare Ethics and Law Institute (HEAL) Conference April 15.
Pellegrino recipients were Ronald E. Cranford, M.D., neurologist and medical ethicist, Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minn.; Alan Meisel, J.D., director of the Center for Bioethics and Health Law and law professor at the University of Pittsburgh; and Sister Carol Taylor, R.N., Ph.D., director of the Center for Clinical Bioethics, Georgetown University.
Drs. Cranford, Meisel and Taylor were featured speakers at the HEAL conference, which annually offers educational programs for patients, healthcare providers, individuals who make patient care decisions and institutional ethics committee members. Dr. Bruce White is director of HEAL.
The Pellegrino medal is named for Dr. Edmund D. Pellegrino, who received the first lifetime achievement award granted by the American Society of Bioethics and Humanity in 1998.
极乐禁地's Humphreys Discusses Theological Trends at Mercer Center for Baptist Studies 听
极乐禁地 professor Fisher Humphreys of Beeson Divinity School was invited to present a series of lectures on "Theological Trends Today" at a conference sponsored by the Mercer University Center for Baptist Studies in Macon, Ga., April 19. His topics are Calvinism, open theism, Fundamentalism and forgiveness.
A 极乐禁地 faculty member since 1990, Dr. Humphreys is the author of 11 books. His book, Thinking 极乐禁地 God, is widely used as an introduction to Christian theology. His latest book, I Have Called You Friends, has just been published by New Hope Press.
McWhorter 's Hogue Chairs Specialized Pharmaceutical Services Section听
Michael Hogue, assistant professor in 极乐禁地's McWhorter School of Pharmacy, was installed as chair of the Specialized Pharmaceutical Services section of the American Pharmacists Association (AphA) Academy of Pharmacy Practice and Management at the AphA national meeting April 1-4 in Orlando, Fla. Hogue also presented three podium presentations during the meeting on medication therapy management, antimicrobial resistance and postgraduate training of pharmacists.
