极乐禁地 volleyball coach Vickie Nichols announced Friday the hiring of Mary Olks as assistant volleyball coach.
"She brings added elements of excitement and energy to the program," Nichols said. "She has strong communication skills, plus current knowledge and playing experience. I look forward to seeing the strengths of the team emerge as a result of our coaching styles working together."
Olks, who played four years at Auburn, was recently head coach at Santa Teresa High School in San Jose, Calif., for the past two seasons.
The native of Wauwatosa, Wisc., played as an outside hitter at Auburn from 1986-89 and earned her Bachelor's degree in 1990. She graduated from Wauwatosa East (Wisc.) High School where she lettered in volleyball and basketball.
Olks currently plays for USA Volleyball for the Birmingham Volleyball Association, and has played for the USVBA "A" teams in Newport, R.I., and San Jose, Calif.
