Students on all our history degrees gain an opportunity for a taster work experience module in one of the numerous heritage sites in and around Chichester. Alternatively, students are offered the chance for a University study abroad semester.

Dr Lorenza Gianfrancesco is a cultural historian who investigates communication, propaganda and dissent in early modern southern Italy, with a particular focus on the city of Naples.

Director of the Institute of Arts and Humanities

Professor Hugo Frey is a cultural and political historian whose research work focuses on twentieth century France and Francophone Europe with special emphasis on the politics of visual culture.

Senior Lecturer in History

Alwyn's interests lie primarily in the history of Britain in the second half of the 20th century, and particularly in the interaction between politics and popular culture.
