Job Description
This position is supervised by: Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs, Office of Research, Linnea Minnema (lminnema@samford.edu)

Job Summary:

This position functions as an intern for communications activities for 极乐禁地’s Office of Research, under the umbrella of Academic Affairs. Under the direction of the Director of Grants and Sponsored Programs, in collaboration with other Office of Research staff, this intern will assist with assigned projects. This position heavily involves writing so the candidate must have a passion for it and have strong written, verbal and communication skills.

Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

This position will contribute to the overall success of 极乐禁地 faculty and staff by assisting the Office of Research with projects. Duties include the following:

Be responsible for creating the content and editing of a new Office of Research publication, Research & Scholarship in Brief

Write one to two feature stories or news releases a month highlighting faculty research, significant events and accomplishments within the area of research and scholarship.

Some graphic design for small projects

Internship requirements:

  • Sophomore, junior or senior pursuing an English, PR, journalism and mass communications degree
  • 2-3 writing samples (articles/blog preferred)
  • Letter of recommendation from a current or past professor
  • Two-semester commitment (preferred)

Student earnings will be paid biweekly in the form of a check or direct deposit payable to the student.

  • Sophomore, junior or senior pursuing an English, PR, journalism and mass communications, or similar degree program
  • Strong work ethic

  • Interest in photography and videography
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Personable and go-getter who’s not afraid to get the job done
  • Professional individual that will meet given deadlines
  • Technical competence in Mail Chimp, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (preferred)
