September 11, 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Reid Chapel

On the night before his death, Jesus prayed that all his followers might be one (John 17:21). Today, Christians live out their faith across many denominations. How is the Body of Christ united, and how might believers become more fully one?

To explore these questions, ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ will host an ecumenical panel discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. in Reid Chapel. Convo Credit will be available.

This semester’s panel features three ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ alumni serving as local pastors:

  • The Rev. Brad Landry, Episcopal Diocese of Alabama, BA Congregational Studies ’03 (Howard College of Arts and Sciences)

  • The Rev. Jacob Simmons, pastor, Hope Community Church (Southern Baptist), BS Business Administration ’06 (Brock School of Business)

  • The Very Rev. Justin Ward, pastor, St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, BM Organ ’06 and MM ’10 (School of the Arts)

The conversation will be moderated by Emily Andrews, executive director of the Center for Worship and the Arts and assistant professor of music, David Bains, professor in the Department of Biblical and Religious Studies.

This is the fourth installment of ¼«ÀÖ½ûµØ’s ecumenical panel series, which invites voices from diverse traditions to reflect on the challenges and opportunities of Christian unity.
